John Constable The Great Landscapes

The Tate is showing John Constable’s magnificent sketches and paintings of the English country side which so breathtakingly capture a magical and wistful moment in time. This exhibition will give us the opportunity to see Constable’s work’s together, to gain a better understanding of his skill and talent in its entirety, opening our eyes to the enormity of his vision, and to his emotional understanding of, and personal attachment to the land.

I was glad to use Peridot in the jewellery, being a semi precious stone and coming from the earth it felt in keeping with Constable. The glass beads are split between greens and earthy browns so prevalent in the paintings. In the design of the jewellery, I have left spaces hoping to reflect the openness and spaciousness of the air and sky. I loved developing this collection of jewellery and am truly grateful to the Tate for the opportunity. I am looking forward to the exhibition

Constable earrings:
The Constable earrings are made with two-tone lozenge shaped glass beads, pretty mossy spring green above and rich earthy brown below, with silver or gold beads to highlight and silver or gold ear hooks for pierced ears or clasps for non-pierced ears.
Green for lightness of heart, brown for a deep feeling of belonging

Constable Bracelet:
The Constable bracelet has a single square glass bead and two lozenge shaped glass beads which are soft mossy green at one end and rich earthy brown at the other. 4 mm Peridot beads surround the glass to highlight and enrich the beauty of the bracelet. The beads are spaced on tiger tail with silver or gold settings.

Constable Necklace:
The Constable necklace has square glass beads at the centre and lozenge shaped glass beads along the sides. The beads are which are soft mossy green at one end of the bead and a rich earthy brown at the other. Each glass bead is highlighted with 4 mm Peridot beads which add gentleness and a feminine feel to the glass.

Constable collection:
The Constable collection is beautiful, gentle and feminine. It reflects Constables love of the natural colours which we are drawn to, and also his love of open spaces.
