About the GoddessDurga is an Indian Goddess. In mythology she was called upon to vanquish a Demon God who was terrorising the world. The feminine was needed to re-balance the too powerful masculine. She climbed upon the back of a tiger and fought the God using fierce weapons. He changed form many times, all frightening and powerful, but when he became a buffalo she won. When she defeated him she took his name and many of his qualities to ensure that masculinity was not lost to the world. When the struggle between masculine and feminine is out of balance it creates disharmony, even war. When balance occurs, women respect and draw upon masculine energy and skill while men value and appreciate feminine qualities. Balance ensures each individual experiences themselves fully and appreciates their own and others’ strengths and gifts. | | | | |
