About the Goddess

Sedna is the Inuit Goddess of the sea. She had a difficult time leaving home, making poor choices and being rescued and then rejected by her father who saved himself by throwing Sedna overboard in a storm, sending her sprawling, wounded, down into the deepest parts of the sea. Eventually, from her wounds, she created the dolphins, whales, porpoises, seals and other water mammals which provide food, clothing, warmth and shelter for the Inuit peoples.

Sedna understands our yearning to return to our childhood, and our leaning towards dependency, inviting rescue from our fathers. But Sedna invites us to embrace our adulthood, turn away from struggles and choose wisely what we would have in our lives. A task of parenthood often held by the masculine is to cut the final bonds for our children, helping them let go of their childhood and become adults, ready to create new life. This jewellery range was inspired by the discovery of the new planet in March 2004 which was named Sedna. The invitation is to become a new planet!
